Superwhisper vs Apple Dictation: which dictation app should you choose?
The short answer
Superwhisper wins if you need Windows support, offline dictation, AI rewriting and audio file transcription: Runs speech models on your own machine with customizable AI modes. Best on a recent Mac; Windows is still catching up and there's no Android or Linux.
Apple Dictation wins if you need voice commands and no install: Free, already installed and good enough for short messages. Accuracy drops on long, technical dictation and there's no AI cleanup.
Not sure you need either? Dictaro is a browser-based option, shown in the table as a third column.
